The present study explores and examines feminist science fiction as a medium to address
gender roles disparity. Gender roles have been taken to question and analyse the
representation, role and identity of women as taken in the society. The role of culture, gender,
patriarchy and literature is undertaken in this sub-genre of science fiction. The study focuses
on the creation of feminist utopian and dystopian states, to view the possibilities for the
combat of patriarchal mindset. It creates an ideal ground for challenging the prevalent gender
roles constructed by cultural approval of it. The thrust is on the vision for the future feminist
evolution in the form of rejection, greater degree of acceptance or oblivion of such roles.
