Robert Frost and Sigmund Freud: a Psychoanalytical Study of Robert Frost’s Poetry
Robert Frost is undoubtedly an exponent of modernism who directly or indirectly casts his characters from the society. His characters bear alienation or isolation not only socially but mentally as well. The all-pervading catastrophic effect of modern era becomes the cause of human beings’ withdrawal from the society. Since life appears to be meaningless because of the ingrowing inhumanity on earth, human beings are torn from inside which keep them apart from society psychologically. As Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus also view “human being as an isolated existent who is cast into an alien universe; to conceive the human world as possessing no inherent truth, value or meaning” (Abrams 11). Apart from all this, the impact of all over created futile atmosphere infected even the psychology of the inhabitants and various sorts of neurotic problems have enchained human beings during the modern era.
