This paper aims at shedding lights on the trends of the special genre of literature called “Whodunit”. The term whodunit is also used among the investigators to describe a case in which the identity of the killer is not quickly apparent. The “whodunit”, flourished during the of detective fiction, between 1920 and 1950, when it was the predominant mode of crime writing. The author finds it interesting as it takes the readers to the original plot of the story. The paper analyses the suspense about the various incidents like the missing of the protagonist of this novel. On their fifth wedding anniversary, the title character Amy, disappears without a trace, and in the meantime every one suspects Nick, husband of Amy. The whole story revolves around these two main characters and the story is also woven on their point of view. The main purpose of the writer is to make awareness to the literary readers and also makes the readers to expose to the emotions and suspense that every literature student loves to experience through this paper.
