Since time immemorial woman has always been neglected, negated and nullified by man and his society. If on one hand, woman is accepted as an equal in the developing world on the other hand, she still finds it difficult to free herself from the eternal tangles and the shackles of society where she is treated as a consumer’s goods, an instrument of pleasure, a priced commodity. She is a victim of the male dominated society in the under developed world.

In India, the land of pati-parmeshwars and karwa Chauth man has connived to keep woman confined within the socio-religious four walls, where she is in the constant pressure of the society and is reminded of her exact place in the household.

Woman is not born, but is made; declared Simone De Beauvoire in her book which is held as the Bible of the feminists, this book is also heralded as a clarion call, a declaration of independent woman, Just as the slogan of Equality, Liberty, Fraternity.
