Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland published in the year 2013 provides us with an ecological wisdom that we should change our anthropocentric attitudes in to biocentric ones. Otherwise the ecological balance of the whole world will be disturbed thus endangering human survival on earth. It makes us aware of the present environmental crisis and imminent catastrophe and suggests some remedial measures. The present paper proposes to analyse the term ‘practical ecocriticism’ and explore this novel by Lahiri through the lens of practical ecocriticism.
Keywords: Capitalism, Development, Ecology, Ecocriticism, Environment, Practical Ecocriticism.
