Abstract: The paper titled “Reality and Reflections; A Study on the Lives of Geishas and Devadasis as Mirror Images”, mainly  based on Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha and Saskia C. Kersenboom Nityasumangali” tries to draw some parallels between the traditional woman figures Geisha and Devadasi belonging to both Japan and India respectively. This paper is a result of the curiosity aroused by the fact that how women from two different parts of the world show an uncanny resemblance to each other. They both were the group of women who were once treated and respected as auspicious and later on faced a fall. Geisha and Devdasis lived in oblivion of each other’s existence but their sufferings and fate binds them into a bond that only soul mates can share.
