Abstract:

Psychology and Literature selectively examine particular parts of the whole of human experience. Both Psychology and Literature adopt as one of their goals the better understanding of overt behaviour, mental life of individuals and how these are related. The phenomenology of the Psyche is beautiful and variegated in both form and meaning. Psychology and Literature will always have to turn to one another for help and one will not invalidate the other. Doris Lessing is the novelist whose fiction is largely concerned with the human psyche, more particularly female psyche. The paper will analyse the psychological perspective of the select works and how the female protagonists of these novels reclaim their lost identity only after their complete psychological development.
