Abstract:

Language is dynamic, which means there is a continuous change. Moreover it gives a scope for innovative methods. For instance, English language has so many atypical methods like phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions, palindromes etc. Myriad linguists did a lot of research on language and gave us the above mentioned.

In this process let us try a new approach or let us call a concept ‘Twin Phonemes’. It deals with ‘pronunciation ‘which is one of the major features of any language.

What are ‘Twin Phonemes’?

In a word a sound is common in both initial and final positions then that feature is known as “Twin Phoneme”

Eg: Twist. In this word both initial and final sound is /t/. We may get a doubt here that as letter is same so it has a scope of getting the feature ‘Twin Phoneme’. However observe another word like ‘crack’. Here the letters are different but the sound is same. So it deals with sound rather the spelling.

In this regard we have to deal with ‘English’ language to identify the possibility.

Key Words: Palindrome, twin, atypical, linguists, dynamic, pronunciation
