Abstract

Colours are the source of joy and brings a wide array of emotions, memories and feelings. Colours are dominantly used in literature since time immemorial to show varied moods, settings and at times help in characterization. The colours have different meanings according to the context, region and culture. Poets and novelists have used colours in a denotative way to give depth to their writings.
