Abstract

A   fiction which is absorbing and a history which is achieving the significance earned by sympathy is Gossip from the Forest.  Gossip from the Forest enacts on its deep knowledge of the author Thomas Keneally. It is a fiction that speaks about the past in sympathetic depth. This fictional novel along with keneally’s other works like The Chant with Jimme Blacksmith, The Confederates, is also Shortlisted for the Booker Prize. The novel is outstanding and the author brings out the story with all his verbal richness. The novel made the readers so exited and intrigued. The author has offered the presentation of peace talks that took place in the Forest of Compiegne in November 1918. It is the study of the civilians and their crude power. The author     has   highlighted   the lives of the Historical figures and convinced his readers that people who exist today are really the events of History. This historical fiction has won the Man Booker Prize in 1975 and FAW Barbara Ramsden Award for the book of the year 1975.
