Looking through the postfeminist lens: portrayal of the female characters in Amish Tripathi‘s Sita Warrior of Mithila(2017)
Abstract
The paper presents the protagonist of Sita is anadministrator and ruler, equally wellversed in academics and the martial arts. She is shrewd but compassionate towards the Mithilans. She is a warrior as well as excellence in education. She is portrayed in a manner prominently different from mostprevious versions and retellings. Sita was thirteen year old, Rishi Vishwamitra‘scaptures her attention. He informed Sita as the Vishnu,the human initiator of a fresh social order, cleansed of all evil. Empowerments of female characters are discussed in the article. Moreover, the paper tries to look into the postfeminitic elements of the narration through various devices and incidents.
