Virginia Woolf was born in London in 1882. Her father, Leslie Stephan was a scholar. Mother Julia Stephan was a celebrated artist. Virginia grew up in a large talented family, reading so many books from her fatherâ€™s library, meeting many scholars and learning Greek and Latin. After her fatherâ€™s death in 1904, she settled with her brother and sister in Bloomsbury, which became associated with her and the group among whom she moved. The Bloomsbury Group included eminent scholars like Lytton Strachey, the biographer and EM Keynes, the economist, Roger Fry, art critic and E.M Forster, the novelist.
