Enhancing ESL Learners Listening Competence through Authentic Materials

Abstract

This study is to develop students listening skill of all level student studying English with the use of authentic materials. ESL can be provoking for some young learners, by the use of authentic materials i.e. audio, video, storytelling, playing movies, watching interviews, we can create interest make students feel comfortable. This also motivates or encourages them to come out of hurdles.  Mainly videos make students involve in listening. Students learn how to communicate. This paper is an effort to discover the effectiveness of using authentic materials. Students were divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. Pre-test and post- test were conducted. Therefore, at various analyses listening competence improves student’s attitude toward vocabulary and various linguistic skills
