VILLAGE ESTABLISHMENT AND HOUSE PATTERN OF KENDRAPADA DISTRICT-A CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Abstract
The district of Kendrapara which came into existence on 1st April 1993, after reorganization of districts is one of the 30 districts of Odisha. The district is a rural one with full of villages. There are about 1504 villages in the district. The district is directly in the belt of the cyclonic storm. Therefore the village establishment and housing pattern of this district is peculiar and different from the other districts of Odisha.
The district of Kendrapada is one of the 30 districts of Odisha. A lush green patch of land criss-crossed by a network of rivers, creeks and rivulets with unique bio-diversity, splendid wildlife, diverse flora and fauna is the district of Kendrapara which came into existence on 1st April 1993, after reorganization of districts.1 This District was a sub-division under Cuttack District during the British rule. In 1859 Kendrapara became a Sub-Division along with Jajpur and prior to 1859 no such Sub-Division existed in Odisha under the British Rule.
