Abstract

Literature makes massive impacts on society and eco literature has undergone rapid development during its short tenure. Man considers himself as superior to every other organism and this is his flaw. So eco literature attempts to raise a higher level of human consciousness. A years ago, Culture is shaped by the people who are living in the environment, it depends upon the generation. As Man lived in close association with nature there was no threat. Nowadays degradation of common property and threats to biodiversity affects the society in great level. For sustainable development the mentality of human beings should change. Environmental education has become increasingly more popular in recent years. So by pouring thoughts through works related to Eco literature and Eco criticism is making way for the humans to think. The research paper focuses on Sarah Joseph’s Gift in Green which clearly discusses how development disrespects ecological balance. The strongest character in this book is the village with splendid greenery. Through this work she suggests that only by changing our activities, we can contribute the well-being and overall empowerment.
