Abstract

Michael Ondaatje is a transcultural writer who has been shaped by different cultures and has produced works which no longer restrict themselves to local, regional or cultural boundaries. He draws heavily from his personal experience of being at the intersection of cultures, which enables him to attempt a special review of reality. The study focuses on the theme of transnational/transcultural identities and also contribution of Michael Ondaatje to their portrayal. Having himself faced the complexities of migration and cultural dislocation, Ondaatje draws from his personal life to write about the experience of transcultural movement.
