Abstract

This paper brings out the identity crisis experienced by the immigrant characters in Monica Ali’s Brick Lane.  The concept of diaspora, the author and presents an outline of the novel. The sense of homelessness which every immigrant suffers in their host land and their positions on the margins of two cultures had a greater impression on the literary writers.  This kind of suffering experienced by the immigrants is termed as ‘diaspora’ in literature.  The identity crisis faced by every immigrant’s life in the novel Brick Lane.  It brings out the uniqueness of the novel and the style of the author in shaping the novel as a representation of diasporic community.
