Teaching of Written Communication Skills in English through E- Forums

Abstract

The paper focuses on discussion board activities done by students in a college in Kerala with the view of developing their written communication skills in English. It is observed that the development of the written communication skills for real life situations is not given the required thrust in the curriculum, and in the classroom practice. Such discussion board activities through expression, interpretation and negotiation for meaning help students to develop written communication skills which is otherwise difficult with conventional classroom writing activities.
