Style and Techniques in Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland

Abstract

Among the diasporic women English novelists, Jhumpa Lahiri occupies a prominent position. In her novel The Lowland she courageously depicts the fate of a family who lives in the Lowland and their will power patronages them to overcome their sufferings. This paper simply deals with the writing styles and techniques of Jhumpa Lahiri in The Lowland. She shows her unique style in prose. She has used several narrative techniques, metaphors, stoicism, melodramatic style, interior monologues etc.
