The present paper projects into the life of Nina, the heroine of Kapur’s The Immigrant. Nina, an unmarried woman of thirty waits for a suitable groom. Ananda, an NRI dentist in Halifax marries her and takes her to Canada. She has been exploited by three men- Rahul, a professor fifteen years older than her, her own impotent husband, Ananda and Anton, a fellow student of library course in Halifax. At last she explores herself and emerges as a new woman.
