Abstract

Yellow Lights of Death is a powerful account of Benyamin’s mastery over detective fiction. In this novel, he focuses on the nature of each events, characters and lands. Yellow Lights of death, is a murder mystery but also talks about shattered lives dislocated from geographical and cultural origins. It explores the life of an individual who gets trapped in the preoccupied notions of the society. This whodunit, is the story of displaced existences and spreads light on the detection of the novel and the inner realities of human life. The research paper entitled “A Critical Approach to the Themes and Concepts in Benyamin’s Yellow Lights of Death” highlights how the society and its norms influence the life of the individuals. It explores the socio-economic influence on human psyche and the consequences that follow. Diverging from the typical themes of detective fiction, Benyamin explores the new dimension in relation to themes and concepts. By discussing the major themes, this paper intends to throw light on the analysis of the psychology of the characters and the major concepts like   socio-political corruptions prevailing in the contemporary society, social mobility, displaced existence, supernaturalism, mystery and homelessness
