Abstract

This paper attempts to explore the impact of comic stories on ESL writing. Though there are a number of studies focus on various issues concerning ESL writing, this kind of study focusing on the impact of comic stories has not been done in the District of Thanjavur, TamilNadu. It attempts to find out a valid answer to the following research question How does comic stories help the ESL learners to improve their capacity to write in the target Language?  

For this, the study makes use of interesting comic stories and use them as written prompts for the target group of learners. It  makes use of assessment criteria specifically designed for this study. It also analyses the merits and demerits in contrast with the factors affecting L2 writing. Finally the study recommends future course of action in the said field.
