Literature, a body of written works is a form of human expression. The name has traditionally been applied to those imaginative works of poetry and prose distinguished by the authors and the perceived aesthetic excellence of their execution. Literature may be classified according to language, national origin, historical period, genre, and subject matter. Some literatures are treated separately by language, by nation, or by special subject. English literature dates back more than five centuries. The writers do not necessarily have to be from England but can be from all over the world. It represents writers not only from different parts of the world and time periods, but it covers every major genre and style of writing as well.

Global literature refers to the dissemination of literature across the globe. Global literature represents an actual stage in a long history, a stage that is marked by an increased awareness of the connectivity of literary cultures. Global literature is not a new concept, but as new media technologies explode, new ways of disseminating books across national boundaries have also increased.  And as new ways emerge of delivering world literature to readers worldwide, many scholars are examining the implications of translations on literature, the impact that literature has on culture, and the ways that cultures can transform books.  Global literature can be an amazing tool for analyzing globalization because it provides a wonderful example of the ways that information is shared across languages and cultures.

Writing a research paper on global literature is a very interesting and challenging task. Global Literature is always connected with other disciplines such as Translation Studies, Literary Studies, Linguistics, etc.; thus, there are always many aspects to be researched. Therefore, the topics available for global literature research papers might be quite diverse. They may relate to the history of literature, national literatures, ancient literature, a particular literary figure, the relation of literature with other forms of art, etc.

We hope that in this collection of papers, a bird’s eye-view of global literature will be presented and thus recommend further directions both for reading and research.
