Abstract

Abstract

Employability is the catchword of the day and the need for enhancing the skills required for this is increasing day by day. Competition in the job market is tough and definite skill sets are demanded from every prospective candidate. A balanced combination of hard and soft skills has become mandatory for the steady and consistent growth of one? s career as well. Hard skills are the measurable technical skills, which every individual in any field is expected to possess whereas soft skills define the finer aspects of one’s personality. Knowledge of English both written and spoken has become an essential criterion to get a job, as the market is now global. Individuals are expected to demonstrate the right skill at the right time and in the right way. A training in soft skills should equip one with the correct tools needed to create an effective resume, write cover letters, take interviews, participate in group discussion, communicate effectively and deal with people and situations. These skills which include interpersonal, attitude, time management, stress management, networking, communication, problem solving, leadership, team building, assertiveness, emotional intelligence, etiquette, adaptability, decision making can make or break one’s career. Hence proper training is required to create the right impression about oneself.
