A Bent- Double Beggar: A Study of Narrative Technique in the Short Story of Ruskin Bond

Abstract

According to Percy Lubbock, the craft of fiction is the most important and intricate part of writing. The short stories of O’Henry, Guy de Maupassant, Edgar Allan Poe, and our own Ruskin Bond are so popular and intriguing because of their artistic value. This research paper attempts to critically analyze the narrative techniques used in one of the stories of Ruskin Bond tilted The “Bent-Double Beggar” taken from the book Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, for which Bond received the prestigious Sahitya Academy Award in 1992.
