A COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION OF CONTEXT, CULTURE AND STYLE FROM A SEMANTIC PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

This paper examines how language is affected by context, culture and individual style through consideration of semantic aspects. The findings suggest that language is strongly influenced by social context. Moreover, it has cultural associations related to societal values including those arising from religious or other beliefs. Finally, each person has their own individual style of language usage which is evident both when they write and speak. All of these aspects must be considered when evaluating meaning.
