Keywords:
Transitional Identities, Politics of SpaceAbstract
This paper is an attempt to show the transitional identities and politics of the space in Bapsi Sidhwa’s ‘An American Brat.’ It intends to explore and analyse those issues and causes which prompted such changes, created conflicts in the life of these literary characters. It further highlights their subsequent actions, dealings and response to those complex circumstances. It throws light on the issue of identity formation, its subsequent transformations in the light of relevant theories of identity, culture and space. It further analyses the corresponding relationship between identity and space and how the politics of the space is very decisive to bring such desired or undesired changes in the life of these characters.
