Abstract

Kiran Desai’s “The Inheritance of Loss” talks about the life struggle of the people in the hilly regions. She won the Man Booker Prize in 2006 for the said novel and she is the youngest person to receive such an honourable prize. The novel is also filled with full of stylistic playfulness, emotions, love and beautiful description of nature and its elements. The natural elements like mountains, lakes, peaks, hills, valleys, seas, birds are also seen. The intense feeling of fear of insurgency by the people of the hilly regions especially by the immigrants could also be seen in the novel. The havoc shown by the insurgency group is beautifully portrayed by the author. The researcher here is trying to find out the art of portraying nature in the book.
