Nothing is real or complete in its exclusiveness; the ideal dwells in the real, the present resides in the past and rebellion originates from suppression. The truth of a generation, tribe or gender is an outcome of the psychological amalgamation of the past and the present, this and that, or his and her. Terry Gomez’s Inter Tribal (1996) assimilates opposites to transmit invaluable inter-generational, inter-tribal and gender information through the life journey of a granddaughter and a grandmother. Baby, the granddaughter, is an ardent lover of modernism, and Hattie, the grandmother, is an ardent follower of traditionalism. Inspite of their differences, not only does the younger generation revisit the past with the guidance of Hattie; but the older generation also gains strength to rebel with the help of Baby. The present paper showcases the conflict and connection between the two generations and two perspectives by focusing on psychological turmoil. The paper advocates that there is a psychological substantive connection between the pastness of heritage and the presentness of rapidly changing time. Undoubtedly these connections clash with each other, but the clash leads to progress, resolution and conclusion through confrontation and assimilation.
