Abstract
AbstractIn this article, the educational backgrounds of George Eliot and Charlotte Bronte are examined against the backdrop of the education that was available to women writers of the nineteenth century. The pursuance of knowledge of the two writers is reflected in their protagonists Maggie (The Mill on the Floss) and Jane (Jane Eyre) respectively.
