Stylistic variation of language in context of Sociolinguistics study

Abstract

This paper will discuss that language is the most important social phenomenon, so it is very essential to very speaker to have social consciousness and sense of culture. The manner of speech, brought into existence at the time of speech event, by the contextual consciousness is called style. The reason of this study is to observe the particular type of experience and attitude from the perspectives’ of speaker, making him/her sensitive to those aspects of social relationships related to the code of conduct. It is observed that some speakers show a much wider range of style shifting than others, but every speaker shows a shift of some linguistic variable in the social context and the changing themes.

 

This study presupposes that topic oriented styles depend upon the attitude of the speaker towards the themes or subjects. It is difficult for any speaker to ponder his/her thoughts in the same manner in any worldly affairs. This paper will also talk about Classification of styles, and Standard speech style.
