Abstract
<h3 data-fontsize="17" data-lineheight="23">Abstract</h3> <p>Arundhati Roy is a well known Indian author who wrote The God Of Small Things and won booker prize for her novel in 1997. She has presented Syrian Christianity in its actuality in her novel. She being a Syrian Christian herself presented the beliefs and prejudices of the Syrian Christians through her characters of reverend Ipe’s family. This research paper presents the facts about Hindu influences on Syrian Christians and Christianity in general. Christianity in India is as old as Jesus Christ himself and it is considered the part of India’s diverse culture. Syrian Christians are said to have landed in Malabar coast in 4th century B.C. headed by Canai Thoma or Thomas Canaan. They flourished under the patronage of Perumals of Kerala. They started embracing Hindu beliefs and customs and considered themselves as higher class or touchable.
