Through the industrial and communication revelations have changed the face of our country. Growth of television has made it possible for us to get maximum information. The proliferation of channels has brought scope of specialized television channels, as a result of which we have different channels for sports, news, education, religious shows, entertainment, etc. The sports channels are very much popular among the Indian viewers, mainly due to cricket. But due to these channels many different formats and sports have gained popularity. Sports like cricket, hockey, football and tennis are most popular among the viewers. These channels help the viewers to view their favourite sport and support their favourite sportsperson. These channels increase the knowledge of its viewers regarding different sports also. Mainly it is found that males participate in most of the sport and even the viewer’s tend to encourage the male child of the family to join any sports related activity. So a study was undertaken to find out the portrayal of males in these Sports Shows, as perceived by the viewers in Kutch region. Significant difference was found in the level of agreement of women on portrayal of males in TV sports shows in relation to the age. It was found that the viewers were able to opine regarding the various portrayals of males in the sports shows on television. Sports channels are the main medium to encourage the youth of the country to play all kind of sports for the country and represent our country worldwide, so these channels must develop their formats accordingly. ?Promote the sport not only the sportsman? should be kept in mind.
