MAN VERSUS LAND IN THE STEINBECK?S NOVEL EAST OF EDEN AND THE GRAPES OF WRATH
Abstract
AbstractJohn Steinbeck with his spirit of Naturalism, he has portrayed man as an integral part of nature in his novels. This paper gives an analysis of Steinbeck’s treatment of the elements of Nature, mainly land and its impact on man in creating certain significant traits in his characters which are found to be manifest in his behavior and response to the environmental stimuli is attempted.
