Abstract

Abstract

Education is a systematicattempt toward learning basic facts about humanity. And the vital idea behind value education is to cultivate essential values in the students so that the civilization that teaches us to manage complexities can be sustained and further developed. Values are virtues, ideals and qualities on which actions and beliefs are based. Values are guiding principles that shape our world outlook, attitudes and conduct. Every part of life in ancient India was governed by Values. The whole life of a person was divided into four stages namely, Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanprastha, and Sanyasa. Every human being was used to follow some rules or values defined by the Dharma. Values are the base of our existence. They make us realize that what we are, is more important than what we have. There is an urgent need for change ? changing from what we are to what we have to become. Teachers need to be trained to create situations and be imaginative to reflect on that situation by making students aware of values and highlighting its need.
