Abridged Foundation WritingDesign through Technical Product Specifications: A Proposed Innovative ESL Instruction A teaching concept presented in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Qatar
Abstract
AbstractNon -native English speaker learners as beginning writers in technical writing need worthy language tasks that are carefully and simply designed to start enhancing their writing skills. These learners become independent on the variables representing facts that the teacher feeds them in the writing lessons where their language knowledge and skills are manipulated to be enhanced. To address this dilemma, a guided technique through a technical product description writing will be introduced to the contemporarylearners called, Component-guidedTechnique which aspiresthem to interconnect every part of the exposition employing current intermediate or advanced English levels in real life contexts through an authentic material yielded by recentlyemerging technology known as technical product specifications. A chosen technical specification will serve as a springboard to yield comprehension. This is a conceptualized simplified approach with series of questions that are provided in the writing components: introduction, body and conclusion. The students are given tabulated facts about a technical product to infer, match, classify, define and sequence in order tocreate a written exposition called technical product description exposition. Pertinent factors are further emphasized in the paper tosupport the viability of this concept. This does not serve to replace the innovative concept of every language teacher but rather strive to provide some points of creativity to create strategies better than what is being presented.
