Abstract

Edgar Allan Poe is rightly called ‘father of modern detective fiction’. He has created stories that act as a groundwork for the future writers of detective fiction. It can be found that not just the genre but Poe has also given to this aspect of the literary world a detective. Chevalier C. Auguste Dupin is the creation of Poe featuring exclusively in his three short-stories namely, ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’, ‘The Mystery of Marie Roget’, ‘The Purloined Letter’.
