Abstract

Skill development in India has gained importance, especially after India has realised that its
major problem is not unemployment but high unemployment of graduates and postgraduates.
To deal with this problem, we highlight the benefits of vocational education training in
imparting required employable skills and work ethics to the youth of the country. In this
process, we model in vocational education training as an economic service, and present how
the three central economic problems - what to produce, how to produce, and for whom to
produce, can be tackled in respect to vocational education in India.
