Dispositioned Self and Sense of ‘O’therness in A Fine Balance

Abstract

Literature always reflects what is prevailing in the society and its belief system which is deeply rooted in its nerves. Rohinton Mistry, a Canadian writer of diaspora, has emerged as a critically acclaimed literary figure. In his literary writings one can track down the traces of subaltern and marginalized minorities. Mistry’s characters brilliantly project the psychic dispositions of his community. This paper will explore psychological analysis of the themes and characters reflecting the pain of alienation, marginalization and up-rootedness of the author and his community. Nostalgic tone and sense of unbelongingness is prevailing throughout his narrative, is also focused in this paper.
